Playing outside...

The nicest thing about living in Tulsa is the mild fall weather! We have been playing outside so much in the afternoons/evenings. Jillian LOVES the front steps and all of the debris she can find on them! Here, she is eating some crispy leaves she picked up... Delaney still hasn't really mastered her Dora bike, but we're working on it. And Olivia still loves her pink Razor scooter and zooms around and around everyone!

Our Neck of the Woods...

Well, we can't believe October is here! The first quarter of school has gone by so quickly.

The girls are doing well in school - Olivia is reading like crazy. She is trying to find and read as many of the Boxcar Children books as she can. We have discovered she loves historical fiction (like Mommy!) so she has read the Little House books and some others that her teacher has recommended. Mrs. Cox has been working with Olivia to find more challenging reading material and we have seen her reading level just skyrocket the last 6 months or so.

Delaney is adjusting to preschool, we think! She loves to go to school and sharing her art projects when she gets home. We have been concerned with her development but her teacher assures us she is normal!

Now Jillian has become a wild thing... She is literally in to everything she can get her hands on. She loves to empty out any drawer she can find and grabbing the toilet paper and running is a favorite activity, too! Her personality is so sweet but she knows what she wants and she'll do what she needs to in order to get it!

Joel's life as an administrator never seems to get dull - the most recent happening was a foodborne illness that plagued the school last Friday. At least 30 staff and students, from pre-k up to high schoolers, was struck in the few hours after lunch with a pretty violent case of vomiting/diarrhea. They had to call the health department and they are currently undergoing testing to see what exactly caused it. Initially they thought it was rotten watermelon that had been in their fridge for 8 days, but now they are saying it sounds like a contaminant, not a rotten food. Luckily, our girls weren't affected, but the stories from the teachers are awful! The poor little ones couldn't make it to the trash can or restroom because it struck so fast. You can imagine how the situation became pretty disgusting!

I joined a Mom's group here in Tulsa so I have made a few connections with other women and their kids. That has been nice. I really miss my friends in Omaha - we had so much fun working together!

That's all for now!!!
